HIS Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, officially opened Mole Avon Trading’s new £5.2M Country Store in Crediton, on Tuesday, October 2.

During his visit Prince Richard met members of staff, company directors and key suppliers to the country store, most of whom are based in Crediton.

The Duke viewed the wide selection of goods that Mole Avon offers customers, before unveiling a plaque to commemorate his visit and the formal opening of the Country Store.

He also cut a celebration cake and signed a visitor book.

John Lee OBE, Chairman of Mole Avon Trading Ltd, said he was delighted Mole Avon had completed the build of its new Country Store in Crediton, and enjoyed showing The Duke of Gloucester around, and showcasing why the company is in an excellent position to respond to its customer requirements as well as continuing to provide outstanding service in the store.”

The store in Crediton is one of three in the group, the others located in Okehampton and Axminster.

While all stores have a limited range of food and drink, the new store in Crediton is the first to include a “farm shop” championing local produce, much of which is produced a stone’s throw from the store.

Mike Haines, Managing Director of Mole Avon Trading Ltd, said “We appreciated His Royal Highness coming to Crediton to open the new store.

“It’s a great achievement for everyone involved and we are hugely grateful to the local community for their support and enthusiasm, it is ‘their’ store.”
