THE Rotary Clubs of Crediton joined together to support the Haiti Earthquake Appeal through Rotary's ShelterBox Charity by collecting in the High Street and at both Morrisons and the new Tesco store on Saturday.

Rotary wishes to thank the people of Crediton and surrounding districts for their most generous support.

More than £2,700 was raised which is an amazing achievement for a one day collection.

The drive was part of a concerted effort by the Rotary Clubs in the county and elsewhere. Three representatives from ShelterBox had already arrived at the airport by the weekend, together with 900 boxes for distribution in co-ordination with the local Rotary Clubs in Haiti.

Further boxes are presently being filled by volunteers in Helston with the aim of bringing the total up to 3.300.
