CREDITON Courier readers will soon be able to enjoy their local weekly newspaper a day earlier.

From next week, the Crediton Courier will be published on Thursday mornings, meaning you will get your news earlier than ever.

We have chosen a more environmentally friendly option.  The Courier is set to help save the environment, and costs, by sharing delivery vehicles from our printers with some of the Tindle Newspapers other Devon titles.

Advertisers, correspondents, contributors, and sports correspondents are advised to take note that our deadlines will be by the Monday evening of each week.

UNDERSTANDING OUR COMMUNITIES

In addition, we are pleased to say that nobody understands our communities like the Crediton Courier.

We are proud of our rich local heritage, which has been built upon trust and has been shaped by belonging to and caring about the towns and villages which our committed staff serve.

Localness is integral to everything we do, from our news gathering and our community involvement through to our commercial partnerships with businesses in our region.

When people saw their horizons narrow during the pandemic as successive lockdowns restricted their movement, many found a new appreciation for their local area and community.

With movement limited, people explored their local neighbourhood with a fresh perspective on its appeal, leading to changes in behaviour. A YouGov survey early in the pandemic showed 70 per cent of people in the UK planned to shop locally when restrictions ended.

At the Courier we have known the strengths of our community and the appeal of our region as we have shared your local news with local people for many years.

Our team is here to deliver news and information which helps to build our sense of community, whether that is featuring those who participate in local sports, through to the latest weddings and landmark anniversaries.

For you, our readers, localness matters because it is about the places where you live, you work, our children learn and you enjoy your leisure time.

The area around us and the people we live amongst are all part of our identity. Turning to the Courier for local news is a real part of local life.

We are proud of our role as an independent, family-owned news brand which continues to deliver content from within the local community we serve.

Our staff have always been there to report on events within our community and the surroundings. Living and working in the area we know people care about local issues.

Getting a flavour of local opinion on all aspects of life here helps us reflect the picture in our community, whether you tell us your views via your letters for publication, your emails, messages on social media or website comments.

We report on the challenges facing people in local villages, through to big stories which could affect us all.

We see our role as “Holding Our Communities Together” amidst the difficult times, celebrating the achievements of the local people in their good times. Operating in the community, we care about, participate in and belong to the area like no other source of local news.

The Crediton Courier offers an independent voice for the local community. This audience engagement, coupled with the unrivalled local reach of our news brand, generates commercial opportunities for local businesses.

Each week, the Courier delivers high quality marketing solutions for local advertisers, incorporating print and digital.

We connect businesses and services to the local audience, adding to the local economy.

Like all businesses we are feeling the pressures of the current economic situation, with rising prices affecting us all.

With your continued support we will continue to make sure localness stays at the heart of everything we do.
