AT the 38th Charter Anniversary dinner held to mark the formation of Crediton and District Lions Club, the club president, Lion Beryl Fitzwalter, presented Lion Peter Wells (zone chairman) with a cheque for £700.

The money will go towards the zone project charity of the year which is FORCE, the Cancer Charity, (Friends of the Oncology and Radiotherapy Centre, Exeter), which provides essential cancer treatment and support to people locally and across Devon.

The Crediton and District Lions Club contribution came about from the club’s Christmas collection at the Morrisons store in the town.

Lion Eric Parkes said: “Once again, the Lions Club is indebted to the wonderful generosity of the people of Crediton and surrounding district in support of our projects.”

He added that the Lions Club is currently embarking on its annual Easter Egg promotions within the town and surrounding areas for which it is looking for continued support from local people.

Mr Parkes said that the proceeds from the Easter Egg promotion will go to the Children’s Hospice South West and other local charities.

He pointed out that all monies collected go to the charitable causes with nothing taken out for administration or expenses.

New members are welcome to join Crediton and District Lions Club and anyone interested is invited to contact Mr Parkes on 01363 82878.
