A CHRISTMAS Fayre held at Stockleigh Pomeroy Village Hall was a tremendous success, raising £1,400 for hall funds.

The hall was packed with various well-filled stalls, which included a book stall, home-made cakes, toys, Mid Devon History Society, Christmas bric-a-brac, paintings, cards and photographs and honey and candles.

Ann Nixon and Andrew Dean from Cheriton Fitzpaine were selling Christmas pot plants and a beautiful Christmas novelties stall was by the village craft ladies, who made tree decorations, and red hats for some cuddly teddy bears.

Refreshments, which included soups, pasties, sausage rolls, home-made cakes and more, were served by the ladies in the kitchen, who worked hard throughout the event.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who helped and to those who went along and supported the event.
