YET again, Queen Eizabeth's students at Crediton have bucked the national trend by not seeing a dip in the top grades in the A level results

College Principal Richard Newton Chance said this was "very impressive", adding that the college was delighted by the achievement of all its students,

Mr Newton Chance added that the results were "a huge credit" to all the young people who had worked so hard.

Against "an increasingly difficult national picture", there had not been a dip in the top grades at QE, as against the national figures.

"We are particularly delighted with our Law, Sociology, Theatre Studies, Psychology, PE, ICT and Geography results, all of which achieved well above their target grades for A*-B."

"Our students have performed very well in the traditional science subjects and in particular Chemistry, where 100 per cent achieved A* - B against a target of 50 per cent.

"Our core areas of English and Maths also did extremely well. We are especially pleased that 66 per cent of the students who took the new Extended Project qualification, which is so highly valued by admissions tutors, achieved A*-B.

"Taken together with our enrichment programme based on the IB (International Baccalaureate), we really are doing the very best job of preparing our students for university entrance, as borne out by the number of our students getting in to the top universities.

"Special mention must go to our particularly high achieving students and this year there are many. Dominic Jacques achieved an amazing three A* grades and an A in his Extended Project.

"Susannah McLaren did four full A2 subjects, and achieved two A* grades and two A grades. Laura Parnell achieved two A* and a C in her A2 subjects and an impressive A* in her Extended Project.

"Lucy Harris achieved three A grades and two B grades and is off to Manchester to study Physics.

"All subject areas have produced excellent results that show an upward trend, a huge credit to our hard working teachers who support the students so well," Mr Newton Chance concluded.
