I DO not know if Mr Neil Weeks (Courier letters, December 12) lives in Cromwells Meadow, Crediton, but he might like to consider the potential flooding risk if Pedlarspool field were replaced by residential housing. At the moment the field absorbs rainwater and consequent runoff will be relatively slow. Hard surfaces will result in greater runoff. I would suggest that the field is acting as a natural sustainable drainage system, and therefore should be protected for the benefit of residents below the site. Also, it is a landscape feature on the entrance to the town, and as such is worthy of protection for that reason also. S Andrews Bonny Green Morchard Bishop
