EACH year at Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton, members of QE Theatre Academy stage a play or musical which includes many cast members - and this year is no different with some outstanding performances by the actors involved.

Currently being staged at QE in the Western Road Drama Hall is a full-scale musical involving a large cast of students from Years 9 to 13, including Year 7 student, Charley Roberts.

They began rehearsing at the beginning of October and only this week could fellow students, parents and guardians and members of the public see the performance.

The production “Titanic - The Musical” is a re-telling of the tragic sinking of RMS Titanic on April 14, 1912, when more than 1,500 people lost their lives as the Titanic struck an iceberg on its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York.

Music and lyrics are by Maury Yeston from the story and book by Peter Stone.

Yeston’s beautiful score takes the audience on an emotional journey, from one of excited anticipation and hope, to its ultimately tragic end.

The wonderful sets, designed and crafted in-house by QE’s talented Mike Crooks and Robert Logan, recreate the iconic setting.

Music teacher, Lucy Welsman leads QE’s ever-talented orchestra for the marathon story which includes fantastic performances by students in many songs, complete with acting and dancing.

Join QE’s cast as they set sail for Titanic’s historic maiden voyage for the final time this evening, Wednesday, January 31, tomorrow, Thursday, February 1 or Friday, February 2 and for the 2.30pm matinee and 7.30pm performances on Saturday, February 3, by booking a ticket from the school library on 01363 778365.
