THE finest home-cooked food, using the freshest local produce, can be found at Crediton’s newest business, the Spectrum Cafe.
Located downstairs in The Creedy Centre at 117 High Street, Crediton, Spectrum Cafe opened on Tuesday, August 11.
It serves a wide range of food and drink options, all the food and meats from local producers and farms.
The menu includes a six-item All Day Breakfast for £5.95 or an eight-item option for £6.95, both of which include either tea or coffee.
There is a comprehensive Lite Bites menu, Salad/Wrap or Muffin range and Smashed Avacado on toast is £4.50.
Main meals include Gammon, egg and chips or Scampi, chips and peas at £5.95, and all priced at £5.75 are Sausage, mash with red onion gravy, Cottage Pie with seasonal veg, Beef burger with house salad and chips or Vegan Burger with house salad and chips.
All the chips are home-made on the premises.
There is also a great Children’s menu and Daily Specials will be available from September, including a mid-week Roast.
The Spectrum Cafe can also provide vegan, vegetarian, Lactose-free and gluten-free options and customers should just ask for more information.
All the dishes are home-made, prepared by the Spectrum Cafe cook and joint-manager Jez Sanderson.
On the drinks menu is a range of coffee and tea with flavoured shots available for Latte or other coffees.
In addition are the usual soft drinks, squash, fruit juices, bottled waters and canned drinks.
Ice cream desserts and special desserts, including freshly-baked cakes, will also be available in the near future.
Currently, due to the Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing, the Cafe is able to seat 24 patrons with ease.
TAKEAWAY MENU
A takeaway menu is available and includes a wide range of options to choose from.
Orders can be placed in the Cafe or by telephone on 01363 894090.
In addition to the food options, drinks can also be delivered.
Front-of-house manager Sally Leach explained that the takeaway menu service will be particularly helpful for those working in local shops or businesses and for example, elderly people currently shielding who would like a meal delivered.
Cash and card payments are accepted.
The Spectrum Cafe team is now welcoming customers from 9am to 3pm, from Tuesday to Saturday.
Owner Mike Trim explained that the cafe was formerly known as Poppy’s, adding that it is the second longest serving business in The Creedy Centre.
Mike has completed a complete kitchen replacement and improved other areas at the Spectrum Cafe.
