FOR the past few weeks a nationally and internationally-renowned artist has been working on creating a giant mural in Chulmleigh.
Chulmleigh Parish Council has commissioned John Hurford, who lives locally but is an exceptionally talented artist, to create the mural.

Parish Councillors Chris and Ann Stanton, explained: “What we are creating is a high quality environment that meets multiple needs”.
Funding has come from Section 106 monies from housing developments locally.

The parish council applied for planning permission from North Devon Council to replace the “clutter” of benches and planters, and to include a shelter and a cycle stand. New checkerboard paving has been laid.
The mural adorns the side of a three-storey property, by kind permission of the owner.

John is being assisted by signwriter Sarah Harvey.
