A LARGE number of police officers descended on Crediton during the evening of Tuesday, February 5 to search for a missing man.

The man (76), had not been seen since 8am and during the early evening a full-scale search was begun.

Due to fog in the area the force helicopter could not be used.

There were serious concerns for the missing man and it was reported that he had been found at about 7pm.

Immediately after Incident Manager Inspector Greg Hine thanked those involved in the search and said: “We have located the missing man.

“He is safe and well.

“He was found a short while ago by a member of the public in Crediton High Street.

“Thank you to everybody who helped locate him.”
