MID Devon District Council will be hosting an event for local voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations to allow them to network and to meet potential investors and funders.

The drop-in event will take place at Phoenix House, Tiverton on Wednesday, October 22 between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.

This event is designed to create a bridge between the funders and the funded – the people with the knowledge and resources, and the people making things happen in communities.

It is hoped that by sitting around the same table, stronger partnerships can be built.

Councillor Gwen DuChesne MBE, Cabinet Member for Parish and Community Engagement, said: “This is a great opportunity to connect, share ideas, and collaborate in a space that’s all about supporting the local voluntary and community sector.

“There’s no shortage of passion, but accessing the right funding and support can still be a major challenge for some organisations. I would encourage those who work or volunteer in this field to register and book a place.”

Councillor Ben Holdman, Chair of the Community, People and Equalities Policy Development Group, said: “It is great to see this come forward after a lot of hard work. Thank you to everyone involved and I encourage all to attend this event as we look to build on the good work that the voluntary organisations do.”

Funding bodies who will be in attendance will include: Devon Communities Together, Mid Devon District Council’s Economic and Regeneration team, Mid Devon District Council’s Climate and Sustainability Specialist, The National Lottery, Tesco Stronger Starts Grants and Mid Devon Show.

During the afternoon there will be talks regarding how to put a grant bid together, how to write a bid, who to make a bid application to and fundraising in general.

To anticipate numbers this event will be ticketed (but free). Register your intent to attend by emailing: [email protected] by October 17.
