A NEW app to make accessing council services even easier has been launched by Mid Devon District Council.

The app allows people to report issues, read news and set up reminders in one simple to use tool.

Residents can also search and comment on planning applications, find their nearest car park, library or place to eat, get in touch with their local councillor and set up waste collection reminders.

The free app is available to download from the Google Play or Apple App store with residents simply needing to search Mid Devon District Council to find and install the app onto their smartphone or mobile device.

Any data on the app remains on an individual’s phone and is not retained by the Council.

Designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind, the app is easy to use and compliments existing channels such as email, website and phone.

By offering a simple to use self-service option for common queries, it also helps free up phone lines for those residents who need more personalised support or wish to speak to a member of staff.

Councillor Josh Wright, Cabinet Member for Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement said: “The app is clear and simple, giving residents another choice about how they access our services and when they do it.

“It builds on the strong channels we already have in place including our website, social media and e-newsletters, giving people even more choice about how and when they contact us. But as always, we will continue to have staff on the end of the phone or available to book an appointment with for those who prefer to talk to a person.”
