MANY people will have been fortunate enough to have already met Andrea Huxley, the newly appointed Crediton Community Builder with Involve.

Andrea has been making contact with as many people as possible, making contacts across Crediton’s organisations and groups, and also working hard to understand the local communities’ needs and assets.

A Community Builder is someone who encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in their community; someone with wide local experience of an area, a Community Builder helps connect people with like-minded other people, organisations, and groups.

When local people work together with their Community Builder to bring positive change to the place where they live, lives can be transformed for the better.

New activities are set up, diverse groups established, friendships created. Anything from gardening projects, health walks, memory cafes, coffee mornings, to IT support and Make do and Mend groups, to young people’s discos, but most importantly, community members supporting and listening to each other on a regular basis.

Andrea usually works from 9am to 3.30pm on Mondays and Thursdays and can often be found meeting visitors to Crediton Library and particularly at the Warm Spaces event held at the Library.

She would like to invite everyone to go along and meet her at two January pop-up events at the Crediton Library Warm Spaces.

The theme is Health and Happiness for these events.

Andrea asked: “What groups would you like to see in Crediton to help improve your health and happiness?

“What skills do you have that you would like to share with others that could help them?

“Come and let me know! Come for a chat and a cuppa in our library warm space.”

Andrea will be there from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Thursday, January 12 and from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Monday, January 16.
