A WARM and dry November made our leaf clearing work on the path in Sandford Millennium Green on Sunday, November 21, so much easier this year than normal.

We are usually faced by packed down leaves that have almost turned to mud at the base, but this year many of the leaves were dry and light and easy to move.

A good turnout of volunteers meant that we reached the bench at the bottom of the wood in just over an hour. A record!

Thanks must go to all those who came along, encouraged I’m sure by the gloriously sunny weather.

The colours in the woods were beautiful and it seemed as though many of the birds felt that Spring had come early. Charlie’s noticeboards along the path had attracted a few new volunteers from Crediton, which was great.

It’s always good to join with our Crediton friends as so many of them use the Path regularly.

One Crediton family who walk the Path frequently, and who were so grateful for it during the Lockdowns last year, has opted to pay a pound every time they walk along it.

This is a great help towards maintenance and other costs, so many thanks to them for this year’s contribution, recently received.

I’m not sure everyone realises that the Path and the Green are owned and maintained by the villagers of Sandford and dependent upon charitable donations and work by volunteers.

A reminder that we have for sale some delicious apple juice produced from the Millennium Green apples by Kate Povey of Little Emlett Orchards.

It has a shelf life of two years, so makes an excellent present.

Available from Sandford Stores or if you want to buy several bottles please contact myself, Di Martin (01363 772691) and I can deliver them.
