IF you’re looking for something to lift your spirits over half term, look no further than Sandford where it’s panto time!
Sandford Pantomime are excited to be performing “Sleeping Beauty”, freely adapted from the original by Ian Trafford of Exeter’s Kickline Productions.
With a modern twist on the traditional story, this version of Sleeping Beauty sees "Gen Z" Princess Rory take on the evil and somewhat hapless Carabosse and her comical sidekick Dotty when Carabosse’s spell goes wrong and the whole village end up falling asleep!
Our plucky heroine Rory, accompanied by chums Bizzy and Buzzy, a gaggle of ditzy fairies and a bumbling wizard try to find a way to wake everyone up.
Expect enthusiastic singing, questionable dancing, terrible jokes, men in frocks and loads of the usual audience interaction - and watch out for the dragon too!
Director Rachel Vowles says: “It’s pure village panto fun. We’ve a great cast of familiar local faces including mother and daughter duos Kate and Macie Carter (as Queen Clara and Fairy Nuff) and Mary and Abby Hewins (as Carabosse and Princess Rory).
“Starring half the workforce of Sandford Stores, postmaster Stu Wight and comedy partner in crime, QE legend Pat Laver, provide a brilliantly witty turn as the cheeky ladies in waiting.
“Everyone involved both on and off stage has worked so hard, it’s a real team effort to create a fabulous village event that is great fun for all the family."
Performances take place at Sandford Parish Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 19, Friday, February 20 and Saturday, February 21, with a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.
All tickets are £6 and are available online from https://www.trybooking.com/uk/FTFV (with a 15p booking fee) or buy them in person from Sandford Stores.
