DO you know what the collective noun for caterpillars is?… Well many people did. The answer is an "ARMY".

This and many other challenging questions were a part of the Crediton Lions Summer Quiz which for the first time has reached far away parts of the land that other efforts have seldom done.

First prize winner of £40 this year was Lynne Porter of Tring, Hertfordshire, who scored a very good 93 followed by three contestants on 92.

These were Mr Ashenhurst from Exeter, Mr Roper from Alnwick and Mrs MacKinon from Hamilton, Scotland. These contestants shared the second and third prizes of £10 each.

The consolation prize of £5, for non-winning entries was won by Helen Crowder from Blackburn in Lancashire.

Crediton Lions would like to thank their compiler, Jo Willcocks, for her hard work and to the community of "quizzers" both in Crediton and nationwide.

Crediton Lions Club is a part of the largest Service organisation in the world, serving and supporting need wherever it is found and on this occasion any monies raised will be towards supporting the local community.

Lions Clubs help local communities in a number of ways with every penny collected going direct to good causes.

They focus on good deeds and help those who are less fortunate.

Just ask to join in the fun and friendship.
