WHEN Crediton and District Lions Club heard that the town's mobility transport group needed an extra scooter, they got together to solve the problem.

Recently the Lions Club presented Crediton and District Community Transport Limited with the extra scooter, one that could easily be folded up and carried in the boot of a vehicle.

Tony Fitzwalter chairman of the Lions Club community services group, said this would be used to benefit the less mobile visitors to Crediton and families who wished to take them away from Crediton for the day or longer.

"As part of Lions Clubs International, the largest service organisation in the world, we help communities worldwide as well as supporting our local community," he said.

Tony added: "Crediton and District Lions Club is proud to be able to donate such a mobility scooter and hopes it will be a valuable asset to the town.

"Those interested in making use of this facility should contact Crediton Community Transport in Market Street, Crediton."

Kevin Yarnley, Manager at Crediton and District Community Transport explained: "Since setting up the scheme we have found a demand for a small scooter that can fir in the boot of a car.

"We are very grateful to the Lion's Club for helping us to fulfil this need."
