LANDSCORE Primary School welcomed parents and families into school on a number of occasions recently with three open afternoons, and a nativity play.

Year 5-6 pupils welcomed parents to share their learning on the Egyptians. The parents worked hard to make clay sarcophaguses with their children and also saw all the work completed on the topic.

In Years 3-4 the children were invited to go to school dressed as either Greek Gods or servants and were encouraged to act in role with the servants honouring the Gods, by serving them food and drink.

The children had the opportunity to taste figs, dates, flat breads, feta cheese, houmous and a little grape juice.

Parents joined their children in the afternoon and made wings together for their talaria (winged sandals) as worn by Hermes. The children really enjoyed the day and sharing their learning with their parents.

Pupils in Year 2 opened up their classrooms to friends and family to share what they had learnt during their Dinosaur topic.

Everyone watched the life story of Mary Anning, a palaeontologist, who the children have been learning about in class and then it was time to get stuck in and create a dinosaur for their “Dinosaur World”.

Pupils in Year 1 and Early Years Foundation Stage worked really hard during the term to learn and perform its excellent nativity play “A Wriggly Nativity”.

This play featured many catchy songs including the lyric “Glory Glory, what a story, no-one’s sitting still”. The children all did amazingly putting on two performances for their families and one to the rest of the school.
