BOW resident, Ian Deaville recently had his long pony tail cut off for charity at R & G Barbers in Crediton.

Ian’s hair was plaited before being cut to keep it together during transit.

Ian said: "As most charities do not use grey hair I plan to deliver the plait of hair to

Haarstichting Nederland in Haarlem in June, where it will be made into a wig for someone suffering from Cancer.

"I have faced some personal challenges recently and have made great efforts to concentrate on just how fortunate I really am rather than spend time on negative thoughts.

"Some years back I grew my hair, because I could.

"I did it to please myself, and in part to show that I was the master of my own destiny.

"I recently read about donating hair for wigs to provide to Cancer sufferers and realised that I might be able to provide someone with the confidence and self esteem that I, and others, take for granted.

"At that moment I realised I really wanted to do something."

Ian has set up a Just Giving page and anyone wishing to support him can do so at: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Ian-Deaville1 .
