The exhibition, entitled Commercial Crediton includes details of most of the town's best-loved businesses as well as some which are no longer around.
Just some of those included are Graphic, Kirton Kayaks, Bristow's of Devon, Lewis's, Phillips (Print and Stationery) Ltd, Ernest Jackson, Helmores/Stoyles, Moore Brothers, A E Lee, Lee's Stores, C Rodd and Co Ltd, Berry and Vincent, A White and Sons, Dart and Francis, Adams of Crediton, Edwin Tuckers and many more.
There are sections on the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate, the road transport, builders, the High Street, wool trade, boots and shoes, leather trade, millers and milling and more.
The exhibition was put together, largely, by society members, John Heal and Sandra Cooper.
The museum is managed and staffed by volunteers from the society and is open to the public Wednesday to Friday, from 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm, until October.
All are invited to visit the exhibition and visitors donations will be welcomed as they are a vital part of the funding required to run the museum.
The society has hopes to make the museum a permanent asset for Crediton.
