THE Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Steve Huxtable, welcomed some of the recipients of grants to Crediton Town Square for the Council’s Annual Town Meeting.
At it, representatives outlined to those present how it had spent allocations of grants received had helped those organisations and thereby helping the people of Crediton.
A total of £55,854 was allocated to local groups and organisations this year (2026-2027).
It was heartwarming to hear how the allocations had been spent and about the good that the money had done, all for the benefit of local people.
Recipient organisations and the amount allocated was: Crediton Talking Newspaper £350, St Boniface Concert Society £650, Crediton Arts Centre £700, Crediton Bowling Club £700, Crediton BSL (British Sign Language) £700, Crediton Heart Project £700, North Creedy Choral Society £700, Crediton Netball League £700.
Crediton Arts Centre £1,000, Crediton Youth Theatre £1,000, Crediton and District Swimming Club £1,500, Crediton Area History and Museum Society £1,500, Crediton Town Band £1,500, Journey Counselling Service £1,500.
CODS £2,000, Crediton Heart Project £2,000, Queen Elizabeth’s School £2,200, Involve Voluntary Action in Mid Devon £2,550, Sustainable Crediton £2,915.
Crediton Congregational Church £3,000, The Folklore Library and Archive £3,000, Crediton Parkrun £3,000, EPIC Family CIC £3,000, Bang Bang Boxing £3,000, Crediton Youth Orchestra £3,000, Holy Cross Junior Choir £3,000, CHAT £3,000, Animating Devon CIC £3,000, Significant Seams CIC £3,000, The Turning Tides Project CIC £3,000.
Crediton Town Council said: “Our aim is to improve local lives in Crediton through enhancing community facilities, reducing food poverty, promoting health and well-being and building resilience.
“A big thanks to all the groups and organisations bringing people together.”
