CREDITON bookshop The Bookery is delighted to welcome writer and megalith enthusiast Fiona Robertson for an evening celebrating the paperback launch of her acclaimed memoir, Stone Lands, at 6.30pm on Thursday, June 18.

Fiona will be joined by writer, playwright and folklorist Tracey Norman for an evocative conversation exploring Britain’s ancient stones, landscape, memory and the enduring power of place.

Taking place just days before the summer solstice, this timely event offers a moment to reflect on the deep histories and seasonal rhythms woven through Stone Lands, a book rooted in the magic, mystery and solace of megalithic landscapes.

Described as “superb” by The Telegraph and praised for its “sense of peace and magic”, Stone Lands is a beautifully illustrated journey across Britain, from the standing stones of West Penwith and Avebury to the Lake District and Orkney.

Robertson began writing the book after learning her husband, Stephen, had incurable cancer. A lifelong enthusiast, she found the ancient stones resonated more deeply than ever.

These enduring monuments, set upright thousands of years ago, stand in contrast to our ephemeral lives. Infused with folklore and mystery, Stone Lands is ultimately a luminous meditation on grief, resilience and the beauty of existence.

Fiona Robertson is a writer, editor and former publishing professional with a focus on archaeology, history and folklore.

She commissioned and edited The Old Stones, winner of Current Archaeology’s Book of the Year award. Stone Lands is her debut memoir.

Tracey Norman is a writer, playwright and narrator whose play WITCH has been widely performed. She is co-author of Dark Folklore and Devon’s Forgotten Witches, and her novel Who Is Anna Stenberg? explores history, myth and storytelling.

Tickets cost £6 and are available from The Bookery or online via thebookery.org.uk.
