THE Crediton Branch of the Royal British Legion held a poignant wreath-laying service to mark the 15th anniversary of the end of Operation Telic in Iraq.
The short ceremony brought together more than 30 people from across the local community, paying tribute to those who served and those who did not return.

Representatives from Queen Elizabeth’s School and the Crediton Army Cadet Force joined Branch members, alongside members of the public.
Those in attendance gathered in a spirit of quiet reflection, honouring the sacrifice and commitment of the Armed Forces during the Iraq conflict. The presence of young people from local organisations underlined the importance of remembrance being passed on to future generations.
A spokesperson for the Branch said the event was an opportunity to come together as a community to remember the courage and dedication of all who were involved in Operation Telic.
The Royal British Legion continues to play a vital role in ensuring that the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces community are never forgotten.
The Branch is marking a proud milestone this year as it celebrates its 100th anniversary. Established in 1926, the Branch has served the local community for a century, supporting veterans and their families while keeping the spirit of remembrance alive.
To commemorate the occasion, a special centenary event will be held at Downes on Saturday, June 20. It will bring together a wide range of local community groups, who will be showcasing the important work they do across the Crediton area.
Visitors can look forward to a lively and welcoming day, with performances from the Town Band as well as local musical groups.
The setting of Downes House, with its beautiful gardens and surrounding landscape, will provide a fitting backdrop for the celebrations.
Refreshments will be available on site, although attendees are also encouraged to take their own picnics.
