THE third Big Boniface Bash is set to be held in Crediton.
The free community fun day will take place in Newcombes Meadow on Saturday, June 6 from 12pm to 7pm.
The event, which was held for the first time in 2024, will honour St Boniface, who was born in Crediton in the seventh century AD. He is Devon’s patron saint and is thought to have invented the Christmas tree tradition.
“[It will be] a day to celebrate Crediton, St Boniface, Devon and everything that unites us,” said a Crediton Town Council spokesperson.
“You'll find a mixture of the wonderful, the surprising, the modern and the retro. It's an event that blends the festival with the summer fete.
“Join us for a day of festivities lead by our master of ceremonies Jonty Depp [of Pocketwatch Theatre as Captain Jack Sparrow], featuring The Running of the Black Dog ceremony and well-dressing parade, Isabella's story bicycle, food and drink, traders, free arts and crafts and printmaking workshops, local charities, Crediton Youth Service [and a] historical Boniface re-enactment.”
The celebration will feature live music from Maz McNamara, Benjamin Akira Tallamy, Ethereal, The Crediton Strummers, Crediton Samba Band, The Turning Tides Project, Crediton Town Band, Haywards Primary School and East Devon Rock Choir.
After the main “bash”, there will be a silent disco presented by The Ship Hotel for over 18s only from 7pm to 9pm in a marquee in Newcombes Meadow.
“Switch between guilty pleasures, indie anthems, dance classics, singalong bangers and late-night chaos with the click of a button,” the council spokesperson continued.
“Expect wireless headphones, multiple music channels, a fully stocked bar, big dancefloor energy, the strange joy of hearing people sing with no music playing.”
Tickets cost £9.95 and can be purchased online by visiting: getedge.events/events/silent-disco-boniface-bash.
