THE Glade, Penstone was buzzing with life and action at our recent annual apple-pressing day.

Many people from the local area and beyond joined us to press the bumper harvest. The apples were plentiful, the juice flowed freely, and was shared generously.

This year, we had two more apple presses, thanks to a £700 grant, supported by Councillor Jim Cairney, Chair of Crediton Town Council, and district and county councillor.

Jim came to see how much the funding had helped towards this ever-popular event. There are now three presses, including one small enough for younger people and children to manage themselves.

Now an annual date on the calendar, and a special event in the community, it started small and has grown steadily over the years.
