THE Bookery is thrilled to host an uplifting evening with two outstanding South West authors - Veronica Henry and Liz Fenwick - at 7pm on Thursday, March 5. This special event celebrates two remarkable milestones: Veronica Henry’s 25th novel “The Invitation” and the launch of Liz Fenwick’s brand-new book Flora’s Day.

What better way to step into spring than with stories of love, secrets, and second chances from two of the region’s most cherished voices in contemporary fiction? Veronica Henry and Liz Fenwick will be joined in conversation by a friend of The Bookery Anne Oxborough OBE.

“The Invitation” sweeps readers into the glamour of post-war London and the enchanting Foxwood Manor in Somerset. At its heart are three women -Clementine, Stella, and Elizabeth - whose lives intertwine amid glittering parties, hidden love affairs, and family secrets. Will the past tear them apart or bring them together?

With her trademark warmth and storytelling brilliance, Henry delivers a tale of passion, friendship, and resilience that will linger long after the last page.

“Flora’s Day” is Liz Fenwick’s 11th novel - a tender, evocative love story set against the backdrop of Cornwall’s beloved Flora Day celebrations.

Flo Richards has sworn off Helston - and the traditions that once meant everything - after heartbreak shattered her world 16 years ago. But as the town bursts into colour and music, Flo faces the dance that could change everything. Can one day mend a broken heart and open the door to new beginnings?

The conversation will be chaired by Anne Oxborough OBE, an experienced literary interviewer. Anne’s career in education culminated in an OBE for services to Further Education, and for the past decade she has brought her insight and warmth to literary festivals, interviewing authors including Jo Brand, Emma Stonex and Ann Cleeves.

This promises to be an evening of joy, friendship, and storytelling magic.

At the end of the event, there will be a wonderful opportunity to meet Veronica and Liz, chat with them, and have books signed or personally dedicated. This event forms part of The Bookery’s programme of author talks and cultural events and reflects the bookshop’s proud support for the National Year of Reading.
