CREDITON Townswomen’s Guild meets on the first Tuesday of each month at Crediton Methodist Church Hall.
This week the guild celebrated its 50th birthday with a birthday party for members.
Sanford Handbell Ringers attended to give performances of some of the tunes the group play and then gave guild members a chance to take part themselves.
The handbell ringers also played “Happy Birthday” and the members enjoyed singing along.
A celebration cake was cut by Rose Roberts, the guild’s longest-serving member of more than 45 years and the guild chairman, Mary Jack.
A roundel celebration plaque, made by a member of staff at Crediton’s Tesco store at Wellparks, was also on display.
A fine tea was enjoyed by the members and handbell ringers.
On display was the work of the Arts and Crafts group.
Also on display were some of the knitted items made by the Knitting group, which knits items for the International Aid Trust.
International Aid Trust is a Christian Humanitarian Aid Charity, which supports those in real need, hardship or distress and those who are disabled through age or sickness and in particular by the supply of finances, material and medical aid and by provision of personnel to provide hands-on practical and pastoral assistance.
The charity works not only in the UK but also in more than 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and South America.
