SAYING she hoped to find ways to encourage children to take part in Crediton Town Council’s annual Floral Crediton competition, the Mayor, Cllr Liz Brookes-Hocking praised all the gardeners who entered this year.

She had been impressed by each of the gardens she and fellow-judge Bert Jewell had visited in July, the colour and range of plants.

She presented the trophies at the town council’s offices in the Old Landscore School on Wednesday evening, September 29.

The results were:

For the cultivation of endangered plants - 1 Ann Cann, Golden Joy; 2 David Cann, Church Street.

Family Garden - 1 Mr and Mrs King, Old Tiverton Road.

Patio and Hanging Baskets - 1 Rob Bradley, Parliament House, Parliament Street; 2 Mandy Teague, Winswood; 3 Mr and Mrs B Blatchford, Chestnut Close.

Large Formal Garden - 1 Mr and Mrs Olver, Belle Parade.

Large managed natural garden - 1 Mr and Mrs Parkhouse, Winswood.

Small managed natural garden - 1 Reg Nott, Creedy Road; 2 Mr and Mrs Harding, Park Street.

Small formal garden - 1 Peter Hull, Cromwells Meadow.

Best business display large - 1 Hillbrow Residential Care Home, Park Road; 2 Three Little Pigs, Parliament Street; 3 The Crown, Exeter Road.

Best Business display small - 1 Station Tea Rooms, 2 Lowe and Bespoke, Commercial Road; 3 Mucky Mutts, High Street; 4 White Swan, High Street.
