MEMBERS of Cheriton Fitzpaine Twinning Association welcomed visitors from their twin town of Bonnebosq, Normandie, during the May bank holiday weekend.
The visitors spent two nights with their hosts for an action packed weekend, which started when they arrived at Cheriton and were given a warm welcome by Chairman Brenda Fowler.
Following introductions their hosts took them to their homes for lunch, after which they were taken out and about, some went to Exeter Quay.
In the evening some had Get Together meals, while others went to local restaurants. On Sunday morning everyone met at the Bicton Countryside Park where they first had a train ride, then lunch in the restaurant. Afterwards there was time to explore the lovely venue as they wished.
In the evening there was a grand finale party in Cheriton Fitzpaine Parish Hall, with a delicious buffet supper, followed by entertainment.
In between the main course and puddings, a hilarious game of bingo was played with Paul Evans as the caller, for the English and one of the French visitors for the French.
Then David Simms played the organ for dancing with Paul Spear as MC, which included “The Valletta”, “The Birdie Song”, and more and finished with everyone joining in for “Auld Lang Syne”.
During the evening the French President Maite Lesquerbault presented Brenda Fowler with two bottles of special wines and was warmly thanked by Brenda who said it was their 37th year of Twinning.
There was also a hilarious sketch performed by several members and led by Paul Spear. Everyone agreed it was a truly great evening and visit.
