AN all-girl traditional border morris folk dance side, a feast held as a tribute to Flora, the Roman Goddess of Spring and Flowers and Maypole dancing, were just some of the highlights of the Crediton Folk Weekend.

Hobos Morris, from Poole, Dorset, who paint their faces as tigers were just one of many morris and mummer sides performing at the weekend event, which was held in various venues in the village of Cheriton Fitzpaine.

The tribute The Feast of Florillia took the form of an afternoon of entertainment, with a buffet, at the Half Moon Inn, Cheriton Fitzpaine.

The Maypole dancing was a new addition this year.

The weekend attracts artists and visitors from across the country.

Weekend organiser Pete Lister, said: The whole weekend was a big success and a lot of people came along.

Everyone had a great time and we are already thinking about next years event.

Co-organiser, John Lee, agreed: The concerts were full to capacity, in fact they were fantastic and the caterers were very busy.

There were no real problems and it was amazing how it all gelled and came together.

The campsite was full and we will probably have to find another field for extra camping next year.

It all went to plan, including the procession, which we hope to build on next year.
