A UNIQUE event for classical music lovers will take place in Crediton on October 22 when The Haldon Duo will reveal how they approach some of their favourite pieces.

This is a chance for music lovers to see the duo in a more relaxed and intimate acoustic setting than is often the case.

The event is being presented by the Devonshire Association Music and Folklore Section and will take place in Crediton Congregational Church from 3pm to 4.30pm.

Lindsay Braga (violin/piano) and Andrew Gillett (violin/viola/piano) are well-known in the classical music world.

As a duo they perform as The Haldon Duo.

For this event, they will present duets by Bach, Mozart, Martinu, Brydern and others. Through speech and strings they show how two is better than one and how the duet forms the basis of dialogue and interaction in chamber music.

The event title "A Musical Duologue" reflects the style and nature of the afternoon.

The performers will take the audience behind the scenes of their music, talking about their approach and the things they consider when preparing a piece for performance.

Music and Folklore Section Committee Member and main organiser Jacqueline Patten said: “We feel very lucky to have Lindsay and Andrew to present this significant event for us.

"It’s more of a chance to get up close and hear some of the background in an informal and relaxed setting than a formal concert.”

Lindsay said: “This is a welcome opportunity for us to share the heart of our ongoing musical exploration in the lovely setting and acoustic of the Congregational Church.”

There will be a break for refreshments with tea, coffee and delicious home-made cakes available.

During the interval, there will be a chance to hear about some of the exciting plans of The Devonshire Association Music And Folklore Section.

Tickets are priced at £12 for adults, £8 for students and children.
