CREDITON bookshop The Bookery is delighted to welcome acclaimed Devon-based author Kate Lord Brown to celebrate the launch of her sweeping new novel, The Silver Thread.
Kate will be in conversation with friend of The Bookery Alison Sweatman from 7pm on Thursday, June 4 for an evening exploring art, love, memory and the threads that connect us across time.
Set between London in 1875 and Paris in 1985, The Silver Thread interweaves the stories of Bel, a young designer working at the newly opened Liberty store amid the beauty of Japonisme textiles, and Mira, a curator cataloguing a long-sealed Paris apartment once belonging to celebrated designer Isobel Bright.
As Mira pieces together the mysteries hidden within its rooms, she becomes determined to uncover what happened to Isobel—and why her home remained untouched for so many years. Rich in atmosphere and spanning cultures and generations, the novel offers a vivid exploration of creativity, courage and the enduring threads that bind lives together.
Kate Lord Brown was a finalist in ITV’s The People’s Author contest, and her novel The Perfume Garden has been published in nine languages and was shortlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year 2014.
Kate has written editorial features, reviews and regular columns for Traveller, Conde Nast, Good Housekeeping, Writers’ News, Arts Business, Gulf Times, Woman, the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Express and others.
After many years living overseas, she has returned to the wild and beautiful South West.
Alison Sweatman is a freelance voiceover artist and librarian at Exeter Library, whose varied creative career includes theatre, podcasting and supporting emerging writers.
The evening will include an audience Q&A, followed by Kate signing copies of The Silver Thread.
Tickets £5, available from The Bookery or via www.thebookery.org.uk. Ticketholders will receive 15 per cent off purchases of The Silver Thread on the evening.
