NAKBA (means Catastrophe in Arabic) was when, in 1948, Israel killed and displaced over 750,000 Palestinians from their homes and land, in order to create the state of Israel and it is continuing to this day in Gaza and the West Bank.
Across the globe people unite and march to remember.
I joined the Nakba March in London on Saturday, along with over 250,000 other people because I simply can't sit in silence.
My humanity wouldn't let me look away from the horrific reality of thousands of innocent children being killed in Gaza.
Going to this march was a necessary way to show up and speak out against a decades-long catastrophe. For generations Palestinian families have watched their ancestral homes and land being stolen by Israel through forced displacement.
Marching along with people from Christian, Jewish and Islamic faiths as well as people of other faiths or no faith backgrounds was my way of joining a global community demanding an immediate ceasefire and real accountability.
It isn't just about remembering history, it is about standing up against active erasure today and demanding real justice.
