THERE must have been several hundred books, many second-hand, a lot new and even a couple of “Fifty Shades of …" , on the tables when Yeoford PTA held a book sale to help boost funds for an outdoor shelter in the playground.

But these two “Fifty Shades” were “Fifty Shades of White” telling the story of 50 years of Leeds Rugby Club.

Among the many fiction stories and best sellers, including a few copies of Harry Potter, were others on cooking, gardening, looking after your body including pilates, history, animals, golf and travel plus many, many more.

None of the books unsold would be wasted, all will be used in some way. Kerrie Jose, fundraiser for the PTA, said part of the reason for the books sale now, apart from raising funds, was that children at the school were doing a Read-a-Thon this term plus other book-ey events and the sale offered a chance to find books to read over the coming half-term with World Book Day in March.

The PTA has been raising funds for two years for the outside shelter to be built in the playground. Projected cost is £6,500 and they are almost two-thirds of the way there.

Future fundraisers are a Cheese and Wine tasting on March 4 and bingo on March 26, both to be held in Yeoford Community Hall. Tickets for the Cheese and Wine evening are on sale now. To know more either check the Yeoford Hub Facebook page or the PTA website.

The PTA hopes to achieve its target this year. The outside shelter would provide somewhere children could gather in the dry outside during breaks. It is different to the outside classroom built a few years ago in the school garden.
