DOZENS of people went along to Christians Together in Crediton’s “Picnic in the Park” event on Sunday, June 1.

They brought picnic blankets and food to Newcombes Meadow after their morning church services.

There were games for children to play, and a short service featuring Crediton Town Band in the bandstand.

Christians Together in Crediton organised the event to celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

It also organised the yearly “Walk of Witness” through the town on Good Friday, April 18.

Volunteers carrying a large wooden cross led the procession, which stopped at each of the town’s churches to worship and hear excerpts from Luke’s Gospel about Jesus’ death.
