A CHERITON Fitzpaine man is planning a 150 miles Charity Tractor Run in aid of two charities which supported his late wife, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Hospiscare.
Agricultural contractor Ross Hext plans to complete the venture from Crediton to St Teath, Cornwall, and back, on a vintage Blue Fordson Major, on April 24 and 25.
He has spent many years restoring the tractor and now complete, hopes that through generous sponsorship from friends, family and through business support, he will be able to raise funds for the charities which helped care for his wife, Carol, in her last years of life.
She sadly passed away on December 5, 2011.
Ross (59), will leave Crediton Tesco at Wellparks at 8.30am on Friday, April 24 to travel the 75 miles to St Teath, returning the next day.
For his return journey, for the final few miles, he will be accompanied by a range of other vintage tractors driven by members of the Devon Fordson and Ford Vintage Tractor Club. Throughout the journey he will be supported by Martin Smale driving a back-up/support vehicle.
Martin says that he hopes to raise £1,000 each for the two charities.
