DEVON County Council has admitted it erected a disabled bay parking sign in a parking area outside Crediton Post Office in Market Street, Crediton, in error.

Matthew Kearns from the Devon Highways Traffic Management Team wrote to Crediton Town Council to apologise for the error.

Some members of the public received parking tickets for parking in the bay while the sign was in position because they did not have the appropriate blue badge.

It is believed that those who received such parking tickets will be able to claim successfully against prosecution.

The sign has since been removed.
