A BOLD new initiative is giving young people in Crediton a platform to speak out, shape their community, and drive positive change for young people.
Crediton Youth Voice is launching with a determined attitude to represent the young people of Crediton and inspire the next generation of community leaders.
Backed by supportive staff and the Town Council’s youth committee, the Youth Council will be looking to have 8-10 elected members aged 14-19 who want to work on projects such as Public Open Spaces and learn about grant giving. Other ideas will be warmly welcomed.
Cllr Steve Huxtable, Mayor of Crediton Town Council said: “This is an excellent initiative, led and driven by young people. It is great that they are interested in the work of Crediton Town Council and want to make a difference to their community’’.
The hope is that the Crediton Youth Council will provide opportunities for young people and give vital employment skills. Projects are already being started to ensure by the Autumn, the Youth Council is ready to start up and find their new councillors.
Crediton Youth Voice will meet regularly on Thursdays and is open to all young people in the Crediton boundary who want to make a difference.
