A CREDITON road remains closed to traffic after a serious water main burst.

The water leak occurred at lunchtime on Thursday, May 17 and saw water pouring out of a pavement and down the road at Landscore and along a part of Crediton High Street at the junction with Western Road.

South West Water arrived two hours after the leak was reported and made a temporary repair.

A number of properties in the area were without a water supply for some time, including residents in Landscore and People’s Park Road.

Landscore Road from the A377 Crediton High Street for about 100 yards has been closed since that time.

No time has been given for the repair or when the highway will re-open.

An alternative route is signed along Greenway/St Saviour’s Way.

Stagecoach SouthWest has been unable to service any stops on the Western Lea Loop since the road closure and says that the closest stop is at QE School, Western Road and the High Street, in both directions.
