FOLLOWING recent break-ins and burglaries in Crediton town and on the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate, Crediton Police is urging people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately via the 999 number.
Taking to social media, Crediton Police advise that if anyone is offered any power tools/equipment, to please contact the police as soon as possible with descriptions of vehicles and people and the location.
COLD CALLERS
Crediton Police would also like to remind residents in the area not to have any work carried out by cold callers as the risks are high, prices could be excessive, end up costing more than first agreed, and may not be of a quality standard.
The advice is that if you need work carried out, you take time to get quotes from reputable businesses you trust and make your decision in your own time.
A spokesperson said: “Please do not let strangers in to your property.
“Please inform neighbours of this, particularly elderly and vulnerable.
“Your local policing team would like to hear if you’ve experienced any cold callers offering building or gardening work recently.”
You can contact the local policing team by emailing: [email protected] quoting crime reference CR/095842/17.
Alternatively, you can telephone the police using the 101 number, or, if it is an emergency or the people are still in the area, via the 999 number.
