A NUMBER of seats in Newcombes Meadow in Crediton have been relocated within the park.

Mid Devon District Council has placed the following notice on the gate leading to the garden at Crediton Library, which backs onto the park.

It reads: “It is with regret that seats previously here have been relocated to the opposite side of the bowling green.

“It is to deter criminal activity.

“A review of seating in the park is to be undertaken and new replacement seating to be provided in agreed positions throughout the park - to include this vicinity.

“Please email any enquiries to: [email protected] .”

Recently there have been incidents recorded by police of youths climbing onto the roof of Crediton Library at night.

It is believed that the youths used the benches to climb onto a wall to gain access to the library roof.
