The Food Bank is thankful for all the items donated last year and especially just before Christmas but is now running low on a number of groceries.
Items that it needs at the moment include tinned meat such as pies, corned beef and ham, rice (packets of microwaveable rice are welcome), dried spaghetti, coffee (small jars), long-life, semi-skimmed or whole milk, long-life fruit juices, tinned veg (including sweetcorn but not pulses), tinned rice pudding and custard, breakfast cereals, sweet and savoury biscuits, sugar, squash, jam and other spreads, washing powder (small packets) and toiletries.
The service provides emergency food relief for those suffering a crisis or experiencing a financial difficulty.
Those in need are referred to the Food Bank and given vouchers by organisations such as the CAB, the Work Club at the Library, Health Professionals, the Children’s Centre, and Local Welfare Assistance at the Council Offices.
The vouchers are exchanged for food and toiletries on Tuesday mornings (10am to 12 noon) and Fridays (6.30pm to 8pm) at The Manse, Crediton Congregational Church.
The Food Bank is run wholly by volunteers from local churches and the co-ordinator is Sue Keogh.
Donations of non-perishable goods can be left at the Congregational Church and other churches, at the Yellow Bookshop, at the offices of the "Crediton Courier, " Stevie B’s or at Tesco’s.
