TWO dedicated Army Cadets have successfully completed the prestigious Master Cadet Course, marking a significant milestone in their cadet careers.

Cadet Staff Sergeant Stevenson and Cadet Staff Sergeant Wonnacott, representing Crediton Troop, Devon Army Cadet Force, completed the demanding course at Cadet Training Centre Frimley Park.

Crediton Army Cadets Staff Sgt Tina Vaughan-Atkins said: “Their successful completion of the course is a testament to their hard work, determination, discipline and commitment to the Army Cadets.

“The Master Cadet Course is considered the pinnacle of training within the Army Cadets.

“It is designed to further develop the leadership, instructional, teamwork and administrative abilities of senior cadets, while testing them physically and mentally.

“The cadets faced a range of challenging activities, including fieldcraft, navigation, leadership exercises, physical challenges and teamwork tasks.

“These activities required them to demonstrate confidence, resilience and the ability to lead effectively under pressure.”

The course was an opportunity to put into practice the skills developed throughout their cadet journey.

They said: “The course was challenging, but it was also an incredible experience. It pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me develop my leadership and confidence. I am extremely proud to have completed it.”

It also reflected on the importance of teamwork and perseverance: “There were difficult moments, but working together as a team and supporting each other helped us get through the challenges. Completing the course has given me skills and experiences that I will carry forward in my cadet career and beyond.”

Staff Sgt Vaughan-Atkins added: “The achievement of SSGT Stevenson and SSGT Wonnacott provides an excellent example to younger cadets and demonstrates what can be achieved through dedication, perseverance and a willingness to challenge oneself.

“Their success is a credit to themselves, their families, their instructors and Crediton Troop, Devon ACF. We wish them every success as they continue their cadet journey and take on new leadership responsibilities.”
