THERE will be an evening to remember with viral sensation Rhys Wynne-Jones aka: The Nightchurch Pianist, when he comes to Crediton next month.

Rhys will be playing a fundraising concert for local youth homelessness charity the Amber Foundation on Thursday, September 10 at Holy Cross Church.

Rhys was sleeping rough when he went viral playing Bohemian Rhapsody in January 2024 at “Nightchurch Penzance”.

After months known in Penwith (his local area of Cornwall) as the “mystery” pianist, Rhys put on a concert in response to his unexpected viral fame.

This was not to help himself but to help his friends and show thanks to the church that supported him.

This decision earned him major national and local press attention including from the BBC, ITV, The Times and Sky News.

After the success of the initial concert churches all over the Duchy asked Rhys to play.

He then embarked on what became known as the “The Nightchurch Piano Tour”.

To date, including a show at his dream venue Truro Cathedral, Rhys has fundraised tens of thousands of pounds for homeless, mental health and earth charities.

He has also released his first EP “Hi & Bye” and won a 2025 ITV West Country’s Pride of Britain Award.

This year he has been named as one of the Big Issue’s Top 100 Changemakers of 2026.

Rhys plays a variety of musical styles from classical, film scores, rock and comedy whilst sharing funny and heartfelt stories from his life. His shows are energetic and unexpected…brace yourselves!

This event is fundraising for Amber’s Devon centre Ashley Court, a place for young people from across the area to rebuild their lives after homelessness.

Doors open at 7pm with the concert, sponsored by Amicus Law, starting at 7.30pm.
