CREDITON and District Lions Club this week presented a cheque for £700 to the Children’s Hospice South West.
Lion Eric Parkes presented the donation to Laura Robertson, community fundraiser with the charity, and explained that it was the result of a bucket collection in Crediton High Street and at both of the town’s Morrisons and Tesco stores during the Christmas period.
He thanked all those members of the public who donated and re-iterated Crediton and District Lions commitment to continue to raise funds for the charity.
He said: “Many of the members here have visited Little Bridge House at Fremington and seen the valuable service that the Children’s Hospice South West provides to families and patients.
“What the charity does is absolutely fantastic.”
Laura said that the charity helps more than 500 families every year at its three centres, including helping families from the Crediton area who are in need of respite.
She said it costs £9 million to operate the service every year and thanked the people of Crediton who donated and the Lions who stood at collection points in all weathers.
