EVERY year David and Gill Nicks hold a cream tea at their home in Bow to raise funds for their parish church.
This year, because of the covid restrictions, they held the tea at the church.
Tables and chairs were placed on the grass in the churchyard along with a small marquee. Cream teas served in the church. The event raised a magnificent £860.90.
Outside was a stall with home-made cakes for sale, preserves, books and other items. Another stall was run by Sheila Job of Crediton selling soft toys, blankets, baby coats and more, all knitted or crocheted by the ladies and gentlemen (five men join the ladies) of Hot Pins who used to gather at Evans News.
There was a Guess the Name of the Scarecrow competition. Among the visitors were the Rev Robert Gordon, the new vicar at Bow, and his wife.
