EVERYONE at Chulmleigh College was delighted to see how well the school has been placed in the recently released Sunday Times Parent Power schools League Tables.

The well-respected guide for parents compiles information for parents making judgements about which school to send their children and scored Chulmleigh College 15th nationally in the State School 11-16 years section.

The school has consistently returned GCSE results significantly above the national average and amongst the best in the region year on year.

Subsequently, Chulmleigh College is oversubscribed year on year.

Headteacher Mr Neil Payne said about the results: “We are delighted to be listed 15th best school in England in the 11-16 category, amongst so many great schools.

“It has always been our belief that hard work brings great results, and we see this announcement as a validation of our approach and rigorous curriculum offer that challenges all.

“This recognition from the Sunday Times is a testament to the hard work of our pupils, their families and our staff that make this school what it is.

“The many years of examination success that we have enjoyed have been underpinned by a great holistic package focused on the academic and emotional wellbeing of the child.”

Chulmleigh College is known for having the highest entry rate for the English Baccalaureate for a state school in the South West and has advocated Languages GCSEs for all for many years.

Mr Payne added: “The best we can give our pupils is a curriculum that demands they think, work hard and be ambitious.

“The English Baccalaureate sits at the heart of this and the fact that all our pupils work towards a modern foreign language qualification drives pupils to meet the high expectations we set.

“The judgement from the Sunday Times marks the recognition that the pupils, staff and families at our school truly deserve.”
