CHURCHES Together in Cheriton Fitzpaine joined forces to invite villagers to a Harvest Festival Meal held in the Parish Hall.

A licensed bar was available and guests were welcomed by the Rev Kingsley Cross and keyboard music played by Piers Howell.

Rev Ann Varker, Methodist Minister, asked that as our friend Ray Sanders had died in the past year, we continue his tradition of singing the first verse of We Plough The Fields and Scatter.

There was an amazing array of meats, salads and baked potatoes to chose from, and some of the gentlemen returned to the food table several times!

Between the main meal and dessert, the Drama Club produced its own version of The Archers (re-named The Barkers), accompanied by sound effects from the audience prompted by large prompt boards, as if we were a studio audience (although, I fear we were not so well-behaved).

Proceeds from the meal, after expenses, will go to St Petrock’s Charity for the Homeless.
