A LOCAL charity is asking for people to make a Christmas pledge to volunteer!

Neighbourhood Friends needs more volunteers in the Crediton and district area who could spare as little as half-an-hour here and there or on an ad hoc basis.

However, you could give as much or as little time as you are able to.

The volunteers help in their local area in a range of ways.

A Rapid Response Friend could pick up emergency shopping, feed a pet while an owner is in hospital, check a smoke alarm or clear snow from someone’s path.

Welcome Home Friends, if you have a bit more time to spare, help people 75+ on their return home from hospital by doing things such as putting the heating on and collecting essential food items, accompanying them home from hospital and generally making sure they feel settled and safe.

A Wellbeing Friend is another option and is someone who goes in and enables someone to do the things they would like to do.

This could include chatting, attending a social or activity group, helping with exercises or providing lifestyle support.

Neighbourhood Friends can even reimburse out of pocket expenses for its volunteers.
